Sidney Kramer - Chairman and Founder (1915-2015)
On December 10th, 2014, Sidney Kramer, the Chairman and founder of Save Westport Now (SWN), passed away one month shy of his 100th birthday. For over 30 years Sidney supported and defended the founding principles of SWN, emphasizing the dual goal of protecting Westport's residential neighborhoods and small town character. Sidney’s many “Remarkable” contributions to the Town of Westport were honored at a memorial service Saturday, January 24th, 2015 at the Westport Library.
Jeff Block - Co-Chair (1945-2016)
It is with great sadness that we report the death of Save Westport Now Co-Chair Jeffrey L. Block. Jeff died at his home surrounded by loved ones on January 12, 2016 after a brief battle with cancer.
Jeff was a zealous open-space advocate and took a lead role in many land-use decisions in Westport, including most notably the battle involving the Partrick Wetlands. He was an invaluable member of our volunteer community, a man who generously contributed his time, energy, and intelligence to all of SWN’s endeavors. Jeff’s dedication, sage counsel, and sense of humor will be sorely missed.
We offer our heartfelt condolences to Helen, his wife of 35 years, his children, Michael, Meredith, and Gabriel, and his grandchildren, Nicole, Shayna, and Emmitt.
